במענה למכתבו מיום הרביעי,
בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו, ויהי רצון שתהי' רפו"ק, ויחזור לאיתנו כפשוטו ולאיתנו כמשמעו כמבואר בד"ה משכיל לאיתן האזרחי לרבנו הזקן (נדפס בקונטרס לימוד החסידות).
לכתבו בנוגע למרשתו לאחרי שנתים - כשיכנסו לבנין החדש בבית הספר. הנה מובן שאין עתה ענין לדון בהנ"ל. והרי עד שנתים קרוב שיחולו כמה שינוים בבנין האמור, וכן בכללות המצב בבתי הספר אשר במחנם הט' וכו'. ועל כל אחד, בתוככי כלל ישראל, להיות חזק ובטוח בהשי"ת, המשגיח על כל אחד בהשגחה פרטית, שכל הענינים יסתדרו בטוב הנראה והנגלה. וימשיך במשרתו עתה.
תקותי חזקה שיש לו שיעור בכל יום בתורתנו תורת חיים, ובהוספה ביום השבת אשר קדש הוא לה', ובזה כמובן גם שיעור בפנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות. וגם בסביבתו משפיע בהאמור, והרי לפעמים דבריו של בעל מקצוע בענין שלכאורה אין לו כל שייכות ללימוד התורה, והוא מדבר דוקא בההכרח בזה - משפיע ביותר וביותר.
כתבתי "לכאורה אין לו כל שייכות", כי באמת - שייכת, שהרי ע"פ תורת הבעש"ט שכל מה שאיש הישראלי רואה ושומע, יכול ללמוד מזה ענין בעבודתו לקונו. ודוגמא אחת, שבזה תירוץ לקושיא ששואלים או"ה וגם אחדים מבנ"י, והוא: כיון שאתם המעט מכל העמים, מהי התקוה להשפיע לתקן עולם במלכות ה', ואפילו לא להסתפק בהנהגה דדתיהם שונות מכל עם - בפני עצמם.
ובמקצוע שלו בכימיא, מענה על האמור - שעל כל צעד ושעל רואים איך שכמות קטנה ביותר - לפעמים פועלת להפך מהלך הענינים סביבה, מהלך של כמות הכי גדולה.
ולא עוד - אפילו באופן שאין היא משנה כלל ענינה, וכענין הקאטאליזאטאר.

In response to your letter from Wednesday: At an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal lehe nbagam ziya, according to the content of your letter. May it be G‑d's will that there will be a complete recovery and that you return to full strength in the literal sense and as explained in the discourse "Maskil LeEitan HaEzrachi" by our master the Alter Rebbe (printed in Kuntres Limud HaChassidus).
Regarding your question about your position after two years—when you move into the new building at the school—it is understood that there is no reason to discuss this now. In two years' time there will likely be many changes in that building as well as in the general situation of schools in your area and so on.
Each person among all Israel must be strong and confident in Hashem, Who watches over each individual with Divine Providence, that everything will work out for obvious and revealed good. Continue with your current position.
I have strong hope that you have a daily lesson in our Torah of life, increasing on Shabbat which is holy to Hashem; this naturally includes a lesson in the inner dimension of Torah as revealed in Chassidus in our generation. Also, you influence those around you regarding these matters; sometimes words from an expert—even on a topic seemingly unrelated to Torah study—when he speaks about its necessity can have tremendous impact.
I wrote "seemingly unrelated," because truly it is related: According to the Baal Shem Tov's teaching, everything a Jew sees or hears can teach him something about his service of his Creator. For example—a response to a question asked by non-Jews and some Jews: Since you are so few among all nations, what hope is there to influence or repair the world under G‑d's sovereignty? Even just maintaining distinct religious practices seems difficult. In your field of chemistry there is an answer: At every step one sees how even a tiny amount can reverse the course of much larger quantities around it. Moreover—even without changing its own nature at all—as with a catalyst.
