Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 22nd of Teves, on Tuesday—a day doubly blessed with goodness—with its good news... The merit of your work in supporting and spreading Judaism, especially the dissemination of the wellsprings (Chassidus), which you surely continue to increase from time to time as empowered by our Torah of life’s command that 'one ascends in holiness,' will stand for you and each member of your household for increased blessings from Hashem in all good.
As this week's Torah portion begins with 'u'Shemi Hashem' (and My Name Hashem), which refers to My true attribute—that the concept of Havayah (the Divine Name) and truth is to extend from one end to the other without change, from the highest spiritual level to the lowest material level.
Surely, in your esteemed community, the yahrzeit—10 Shevat—will be marked appropriately; write about it without self-deprecation—see what is printed on Berachos (19a).
It is surprising you did not comment on the difference within tractate Taanis itself—between Rashi’s commentary on the Mishnah and that on the Gemara! See Chida’s Shem HaGedolim under Rashi: a) Some say Rashi’s commentary on Taanis is not actually by Rashi. b) There were several editions of Rashi’s commentary.
Blessings for good news in both general and personal matters together.
Summary
The Rebbe encourages ongoing efforts in spreading Judaism and Chassidus, highlights the importance of extending G‑dliness into all aspects of life, and urges careful study by noting differences in Torah commentaries.
