Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from Sunday and its content, I am replying without waiting for my turn. You write about the relationship between husband and wife, etc.—and in accordance with our Sages' ruling regarding bringing peace between husband and wife, that one eats its fruits, etc., it is understood that every effort and endeavor in this matter is worthwhile. This is clear.

It is also understood that in such matters it is impossible to set fixed rules, as it depends on the nature of the man and woman as well as the environment in which they live. But certainly, for every person there is a possible approach and influence through contemplation and searching for the appropriate way for this particular individual—again and again—with pleasantness but with firmness, using words that come from the heart. All this is not difficult at all to speak sincerely since the matter concerns those involved and their future generations.

The common beneficial factor in every such event is like what is brought in Avos d'Rabbi Nosson chapter 12 regarding Aharon's conduct—loving peace.

May it be G‑d's will that your efforts succeed in establishing a Jewish home founded on Torah and mitzvahs, extending into daily life.

You do not mention anything regarding matters of the month of Tishrei—the month abundant with all good. I hope it was utilized appropriately; after all, this serves as a general principle for the entire year: to draw from the inspiration and enthusiasm of the festival days throughout the whole year. And if this demand applies to everyone, how much more so to someone whom Divine Providence has granted merit and success to lead a holy congregation in Israel along an ascending path toward the House of G‑d.

Blessings for good news in both personal and communal matters together.

If possible given the couple's circumstances, there may be reason to suggest that they travel together for several weeks to a vacation spot or similar setting—as a second "honeymoon"—which could improve their entire situation.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that marital harmony requires ongoing effort tailored to each couple's unique personalities and circumstances. Heartfelt communication, patience, and sometimes even a shared retreat can help foster lasting peace at home.
