Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your message about your birthday: You have surely followed the recent custom among Anash to give tzedakah on your birthday before Shacharis and Minchah or on the preceding day—when the birthday falls on Shabbos or Yom Tov—study an additional lesson both in Nigleh and in Chassidus. Receive an aliyah to the Torah on your birthday or on the preceding Shabbos, and learn the three fixed daily portions—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—on your birthday.

May it be the will of Hashem that this year will be one of success for you in Torah study and in fulfilling mitzvos with hiddur.

Blessings for Torah study with awe of Heaven in the name of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita. Secretary.

You surely know about the three daily lessons equal for every soul—in Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and you should maintain them from now on.

Regarding your question for advice against wasting time: memorize by heart the entire first section of Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim siman 1. From time to time review it; likewise become fluent by heart in some chapters of Mishnayos and at least one chapter of Tanya. Consult with your mashpia about which chapters.
