Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 17th of Adar Rishon which has reached me, requesting a blessing and a pan regarding your health situation. At an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nbgm zy"a for what you need according to the content of your letter.

Since you have a share in synagogue matters—and in our generation the synagogue is also a house of study, meaning communal Torah learning—it is understood and obvious that the more you strive to improve matters of awe of Heaven and learning in the synagogue, the merit of the many will help increase Hashem's blessings for you, including in your health.

Since for Jewish men and women physicality and spirituality go hand in hand, one can affect bodily health by strengthening the soul's health—especially through mitzvos. As our Sages said: "248 positive commandments correspond to a person's 248 limbs." It is understood that when there is an issue with one's legs, its spiritual correction is through tzedakah (charity), since it is called 'the standing one' which is with his leg—as our Sages said—and primarily through matters of emunah (faith), which supports the entire person. As our Sages ruled: "Chavakuk came and established them on one principle," as it says: "A tzaddik lives by his faith," and "Your people are all righteous."

Even though all Jews are believers, children of believers, Jewish faith must be such that it influences one's thought process throughout the day—that is, in every event or matter one should seek out the aspect of Divine Providence within it despite concealment by natural garments. One should know clearly that as long as he has not found this point of Divine Providence he does not truly understand the matter or event; so much so that he will lack satisfaction—this state proves his faith is complete and not merely superficial or partial. Even then it is obvious he believes—as above—all Jews are believers.

From this follows a clear directive from our Sages: as they say on the verse "And your faithfulness in times..."—faith refers to Seder Zeraim (the order dealing with agriculture)—that one believes in the Living One of worlds and sows (Yerushalmi cited in Tosafos Shabbos 31a). This means that even regarding planting he does not rely on nature's laws but solely on his faith in the Living One of worlds; only this motivates him to cast seeds into the earth believing they will eventually sprout.

The truth of this emunah is also evident from Purim—which we have just experienced—when Israel's salvation appeared completely natural because Esther was married to the ruling king. Yet this was considered among the greatest miracles—so much so that a unique festival was established for it with its own blessing: "Who performed miracles...until this day," even meriting its own tractate—unlike Chanukah.

With honor and blessing to hear good news in all mentioned above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that strengthening one's involvement in synagogue life and Torah study brings merit for blessings—including health—and emphasizes how true emunah should permeate daily life. Acts of tzedakah and deepening faith can positively influence both body and soul.
