במענה למכתבו מי"ג מנ"א, בו כותב ראשי פרקים מהשתלשלות הענינים עד שבא לאה"ק ת"ו. וסברות בהנוגע לאופן הסתדרותו ולימודו להבא, ושואל דעתי בזה.
ודעתי ברורה מוחלטה, אשר עליו להמשיך בלימודי קדש עוד משך זמן חשוב, וכיון שכבר נמצא באה"ק ת"ו, אין כדאיות ההוצאות לחזור לצרפת ולחפש שם מקום ללימוד, ובודאי יהיו כמה קישוים וכו', בה בשעה שיוכל להסתדר בלימוד במקום בו כותב, שנראה לו שהצליח שם. ובמה שכותב סברא, שכיון שצריך להסתדר בחייו בעתיד, עליו למהר בהכנות לזה, ולא ללמוד בישיבה, הנה אדרבה, כיון שהקב"ה נותן התורה ומצוה המצוה הוא הזן ומפרנס לכל ומשגיח על כל אחד ואחד בהשגחה פרטית, והוא גם כן ציוה שהכנה הכרחית לחיי איש הישראלי הוא לימוד זמן חשוב בתורתנו תורת חיים, אין זה איבוד זמן ח"ו אלא אדרבה ואדרבה, וכידוע המשל בזה אשר כשרוצים לבנות בנין שיהי' בנין טוב ומפואר בכל הפרטים, לכל לראש צריך לראות שהיסוד יהי' חזק ואמיץ, כי באם יהי' היסוד רעוע, אין כל תועלת ביופי הבנין וכו' וכן הוא בהנוגע ליסוד בחיים של בני ישראל, אשר הם הן השנים והזמנים שהוא מקדיש לתורה ועניני', ואם רוצה להיות מאושר בהעשיריות שנים שלאחרי זה, צריך לחזק היסוד, ז.א. להוסיף בלימוד התורה וקיום עניני' כהנה וכהנה.
כיון שנמצא בכפר הראה, מהנכון שיכנס שם להרב מ. צ. שליט"א נרי-ה, ויבאר לפניו את הבעיא שלו, ויכול להראותו גם מכתבי זה, ובודאי אשר יפרט לו את הענין עוד יותר ויסבירו באם זקוק לעוד ביאור בזה.

In response to your letter from the 13th of Menachem Av, in which you write main points about the sequence of events until you arrived in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land), and your thoughts regarding how you should settle and continue your studies in the future, asking my opinion on this.
My opinion is clear and absolute: you should continue with sacred studies for a significant period. Since you are already in Eretz HaKodesh, it is not worthwhile to incur the expenses of returning to France and searching there for a place to study; certainly there would be many difficulties, etc., while you can arrange your studies in the place where you write that you feel successful.
Regarding your reasoning that since you need to prepare for your future life, you should hurry with those preparations and not study in yeshivah—on the contrary! Since the Holy One, blessed be He, who gives the Torah and commands its mitzvos is also the One who sustains and provides for everyone with individual Divine Providence, and He also commanded that an essential preparation for Jewish life is dedicating significant time to studying our Torah of life—this is not a waste of time at all; on the contrary! It is well known by analogy: when one wants to build a good and beautiful building in every detail, first one must ensure that the foundation is strong and sturdy. If the foundation is weak, no beauty of the building will help. So too with the foundation of Jewish life—it consists of those years and times dedicated to Torah and its matters. If one wishes to be happy in all subsequent decades, one must strengthen this foundation—that is, increase Torah study and observance accordingly.
Since you are in Kfar HaRoeh, it would be appropriate for you to approach Rabbi M. Tz. shlita Neriyah there and explain your issue to him; you may also show him this letter. Certainly he will elaborate further on this matter and explain if further clarification is needed.
