I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 8th of Tammuz with the pidyon nefesh. Since we are now on the eve of the days of redemption, Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz—the redemption of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, may his merit protect us—which was a redemption for many at that time and for years and generations to come, as is evident from the details of his imprisonment and redemption, this should be actualized in practical activities in those areas for which he gave his life: spreading Judaism in general and spreading the wellsprings in particular. All those connected to and aware of this are obligated in this mission.

And since success in this work requires tranquility, joy, and a good heart, may Hashem, Shepherd of Israel, shine His face upon you and redeem you from all distracting matters, fulfilling all the above with true expansiveness both materially and spiritually.

Regarding what you wrote about Der Metz concerning the Baal Shem Tov (as brought with additional details in Kuntres U'Maayan Samit), why he did not continue in the second and third year—there are several matters that do not renew each year from their original source; for example, a person's years (see Yevamos end ch. 4), and see Atar how each year is a detail drawn from the general principle of a thousand years.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that approaching Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz calls for renewed dedication to spreading Judaism and Chassidus. True success comes with inner peace and joy. Not every spiritual renewal repeats annually; some draw from deeper sources.
