To the activists and friends of the Beis Rivkah schools in general, and to the participants in the seventeenth annual banquet of the Beis Rivkah schools in particular—may Hashem be upon them and grant them life—Shalom u'Vrachah!
The banquet of the Beis Rivkah schools this year takes place in the month which stands under the influence of the festival of Matan Torah and Kabbalas HaTorah. Therefore, all activists and friends of Beis Rivkah are also under the impression of this festival, whose inner content is Naaseh v'Nishma ("We will do and we will hear").
Torah unites within itself two opposites: On one hand, Torah contains the deepest concepts about the unity of the Creator—especially as explained in Pnimiyus HaTorah (Chassidus); on the other hand, Torah connects to every detail of daily human life, even the smallest and most mundane. This is also emphasized in the Aseres HaDibros (Ten Commandments), which begin with Anochi Hashem Elokecha ("I am Hashem your G‑d")—the faith in G‑d's absolute unity despite multiplicity in creation, requiring deep contemplation; and they conclude with Lo Tirtzach etc. ("You shall not murder" etc.), matters connected to a person's lowest instincts.
The meaning is that just as Torah unites these two extremes from end to end, so too does it unite a Jew's daily life—not by separating from the world but by bringing holiness into it. That is why Jews are called Goy Echad Ba'Aretz ("a unique nation on earth")—because they bring unity and holiness into worldly matters.
This aforementioned idea is reflected and realized in education—the upbringing of Jewish children from a very young age. Even though young children are not yet able to delve into Torah's deepest concepts, Torah still contains detailed instructions for them as well: how children should be educated in every detail—even very simple ones—and this is vital for upholding all of Torah.
This is especially true regarding girls' education, since each one must become a future Akeres HaBayis (mainstay of her home) and educator—of both boys and girls—in the path of Torah and mitzvos. The necessity for this is clear.
Therefore I hope that everyone will strive to give maximum material support to Beis Rivkah schools at this banquet opportunity—and throughout the year—and also influence others to help support and expand these schools.
The Alm-ghty will surely not remain indebted; He will grant success to each person also in their own personal and family matters—both materially and spiritually.
Summary
Torah bridges spiritual depth with practical life; supporting Jewish education brings unity into our world. The Rebbe urges generous support for Beis Rivkah schools as an investment that brings blessings both materially and spiritually.
