מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו עם העתקה מה שכתב להרב... שי' ובטח ידוע גם לו אשר בכמה מכ"ע הנדפסים באידיש בארצוה"ב, פרסמו בהנוגע לשיטתו של פרויד מעין ההערכה אודותה מזכיר במכתבו.
וכבר אמרתי, ע"פ אחד היסודות משיטת החסידות, שאין בעולם רע בלא טוב, שהשטחיות בה מצטיינים כו"כ מחוגי הקוראים מכ"ע, אף שתכונה רעה היא ביותר, שהרי השטחיות יש בה גרעון אפילו לגבי העדר הידיעה, כיון שתופסים את הענין לפעמים הכי קרובות שלא לאמיתתו ומסלפים אותו.
מאידך גיסא במצב ההווה טובה רבה צפונה בה, כיון שבעוה"ר רוב כותבי המכ"ע וענינים הנדפסים, מוטב להם שלא היו רואים אור הדפוס והפרסום והפסדם מרובה ותועלתם בספק גדול, מועילה השטחיות למעט ההיזק וההפסד, וברוב הפעמים תופסים ענין הנדפס רק כסנסציא, ובפרט בנדון כהאמור, וכטבע בנ"א למחרתו מחפשים סנסציא אחרת, וישן מפני חדש תוציאו.
ובודאי למותר להעיר אשר בהמכ"ע שנדפס המאמר הנ"ל ישנם מאמרים שהם בנגוד גדול יותר ליהדות המסורתית מאשר ההערכה ע"ד הנ"ל...

I acknowledge receipt of your letter with a copy of what you wrote to the Rav... sheyichyeh, and you surely also know that in several newspapers printed in Yiddish in the United States, they published regarding Freud's approach a kind of evaluation similar to what you mention in your letter.
I have already said, based on one of the foundations of Chassidus, that there is nothing bad in the world without good; superficiality—which so many circles of newspaper readers excel at—is indeed a very negative trait. Superficiality is even worse than ignorance because it often leads to misunderstanding and distortion of matters.
On the other hand, in the current situation there is much good hidden within it. Since, unfortunately, most writers and topics published would be better off never seeing print—their harm is great and their benefit highly doubtful—superficiality helps minimize damage and loss. Most of the time people perceive what is printed only as sensationalism; especially in this case, and as is human nature, by the next day they seek a new sensation and discard the old for the new.
It is certainly unnecessary to point out that in the newspaper where this article was published there are articles even more strongly opposed to traditional Judaism than this evaluation mentioned above...
