נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מה' אייר אודות הבחינה, ביחד עם חבריו הרבנים הרה"ג שליט"א, את תלמידי הישיבה תומכי תמימים, מיסודם ובהנהלתם של כ"ק רבותינו נשיאינו זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ושמחתי לתוצאות הבחינות וחוו"ד בהנוגע להידיעות של התלמידים שי'.
ומובן שביחוד על הנקודה העיקרית, אשר השקו"ט והתשובות מלאות חיים, המורה, כלשונו במכתבו, אשר לומדים באהבה.
ויהי רצון אשר רבות בשנים יבשר כת"ר וכן חבריו הרבנים שליט"א, מלימוד תורתנו תורת חיים מתוך אהבת השם ואהבת התורה, וביחוד בהנוגע לתלמידי ישיבת תומכי תמימים, אשר מיסדי הישיבה קבעו מטרת חינוכם להעשות נרות-להאיר מחשכי עולם קטן (זה האדם) וגם עולם כפשוטו, על ידי שיגדילו תורה אור ויאדירו אותה, מתוך המאור שבתורה, זוהי פנימיות התורה.
וכשם שגרם רוב קורת רוח, הנה, במדתו של נותן התורה שהיא מדה כנגד מדה אלא שכ"פ ככה, ישבע בקורת רוח ונחת רוח מיו"ח שי' וגם מעצמו.

I was pleased to receive your letter from the 5th of Iyar regarding the exam, together with your esteemed rabbinic colleagues, on the students of Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim, founded and directed by our holy Rebbeim, may their merit protect us. I was happy with the results of the exams and your opinion regarding the students’ knowledge.
It is clear that especially regarding the main point—that the discussions and answers are full of life—this shows, as you wrote in your letter, that they learn with love.
May it be G‑d’s will that for many years you and your rabbinic colleagues will continue to share good news from learning our Torah of life with love of Hashem and love of Torah—especially concerning the students of Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim. The founders set their educational goal for them to become lamps that illuminate both the small world (the person) and also the world at large by increasing Torah light and strengthening it through the inner dimension of Torah.
Just as this brought much satisfaction—so too, in accordance with "measure for measure," but many times over—you should be satisfied and take pleasure from your own children as well as from yourself.
