במענה למכתבו מעש"ק קדושים, בו כותב בהנוגע לשו"ב שהתחיל פתאום ללכת בגילוי ראש, באם זה נוגע לכשרות שחיטתו.
ובודאי ידוע לו המאורע שלפני כמה דורות, שאסרו בפועל שחיטתו של שו"ב מפני שלבש קאלאשין, אף שכמובן בהענין מצ"ע אין כל איסור, אלא שבזמן ההוא היתה זו הוכחה, אשר סר מדרך הישר, והרי שו"ב צ"ל ירא שמים ביותר וביותר, וכמבואר בשו"ע לרבנו הזקן ובשו"ת נכדו אדמו"ר הצ"צ הלכות שחיטה. ועד"ז בנדון דידן, והרי ענין גילוי הראש, שלא בערך חמור ביותר וביותר מאשר לבישת קאלאשין, וק"ל.
באיזה אופן יש לתקן הענין, מובן שתלוי בכמה פרטים ופרטי פרטים, ואולי כדאי להודע באופן חשאי אצל הסתדרות הרבנים באם היו מקרים דומים להנ"ל, ובאיזה אופן ואמצעים אחזו ופעלו. ומובן שכל קדימה בפעולה בשטח האמור בנקל יותר התיקון.
בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור בכל הענינים אודותם כותב ואשר מנצל כל אפשריות להפצת היהדות בכלל והפצת החסידות בפרט.

In response to your letter from Erev Shabbat Kodesh Kedoshim, in which you write regarding a shochet who suddenly began going bareheaded, and whether this affects the kashrus of his shechitah.
Surely you are aware of the incident from several generations ago, when a shochet's shechitah was actually prohibited because he wore kalashin (a type of garment), even though in itself there is no prohibition in this matter. Rather, at that time it served as proof that he had deviated from the proper path. A shochet must be extremely G‑d-fearing, as explained in Shulchan Aruch by our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe and in the responsa of his grandson, Admor HaTzTz (tzt"z), laws of shechitah. Similarly in our case; and the matter of going bareheaded is incomparably more severe than wearing kalashin. This should be understood.
How to correct this situation depends on many details and particulars. Perhaps it is worthwhile to discreetly inquire with the Rabbinical Association if there have been similar cases and what methods and means were used and effective. Clearly, any prompt action in this area makes correction easier.
