To the esteemed participants in the farbrengen for the yahrzeit of our master, teacher and Rebbe Maharashab zatzukal lehe nbgm zya, leader of Israel—may G‑d be upon them and grant them life.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from this auspicious day mentioned above—a letter of blessing. I have accepted your blessing and will respond in kind, as it is written: 'And I will bless those who bless you.' May each and every one of you be blessed with G‑d's blessing. This blessing contains two advantages: that of a blessing and that of prayer, as explained at length in the discourse Areiv'l 5629.
Merit is brought about on meritorious days—the days of the month of Nissan—all days of this month are considered like Rosh Chodesh, as explained in Shnei Luchot HaBrit (Parshat Bo), cited in the discourse HaChodesh HaZeh Lachem 5626. The month and all its matters are included in 'This month shall be for you,' which, as our Sages say, teaches that Israel is distinguished by this. This is understood.
The merit of the yahrzeit's subject—who said before his passing: 'I am going to heaven and I leave you my writings' (that is: I ascend to heaven but leave my writings with you)—emphasizes that his Chassidic writings are a substitute and fulfillment for his ascent to heaven.
As our Sages teach, tzaddikim resemble their Creator, about whom it is said: 'Ana nafshi ketavit yehavit' (I have written My soul into [the Torah]) (Shabbat 105a; see Tanya ch. 47 quoting Zohar). This stands for all who engage in his Torah study—and great is study that leads to action—following his guidance and conduct, increasing inspiration from the leader of Israel in all their needs both spiritual and material.
With blessings for a kosher and joyous Pesach holiday and good news in all the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that connecting to a tzaddik through studying his teachings brings ongoing blessing. The month of Nissan holds special merit for personal growth; following guidance from our leaders draws both spiritual and material benefit.
