We acknowledge receipt of your letter—without indication of when it was written—along with its enclosure. Regarding what you wrote: 'Master of the Universe, until when,' etc., it is already known from the teachings of our holy books that it is not proper to engage in questioning or challenging the ways of Heaven, for it is not fitting (es loiyent nit) that one's conduct toward the Creator should be scrutinized. It is far better to request from Hashem blessings and salvations through His gracious kindness, as expressed in the familiar prayer of all Jews: 'Lecha Hashem hatzedakah v'lanu...' (To You, Hashem, is righteousness and to us...), 'Not with kindness nor deeds do we come before You; like paupers and beggars we knock at Your door,' etc. (and then we are assured that) 'From before You, our King, do not send us away empty-handed.' Lengthy discussion on this matter is certainly unnecessary since it is clearly stated elsewhere, especially as it appears from your letters that you have studied and reviewed these teachings.

May it be G‑d's will that you share good news regarding all those about whom you write—good that is visible and revealed. And since you are also included in this category, obviously you should also share good news about yourself: that you are increasing in Torah study and beautifying mitzvah observance, progressing from strength to strength, and that Hashem's blessings are increasing for you day by day.

Summary
