... ת"ח על בשורתו הטובה שכבר הוטב מצב בריאות... שתליט"א, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב גם בשאר הענינים אודותם מזכיר במכתבו, ובעיקר מקבלת נחת רוח מהנהגת כל יו"ח... שיחיו וכו', ואפילו על כגון דא קאי פתגם רבותינו נשיאנו הק' טראכט גוט וועט זיין גוט, ומובן גם ע"פ פשוט, כי כשמביטים על הנהגתם בעין טובה במילא ההנהגה אתם היא ג"כ מתאימה לזה, והדבור עאכו"כ, ומה שאפשר לפעול בדברי קירוב, מובן שגדול כו"כ משע"י הנהגה דקו ההפכי, ואף שארז"ל שכהנים קפדנים הם, הנה מבואר בכ"מ בארוכה בדא"ח שהם דוקא מקו החסד, ובפרט אלה שזכו לחינוך חסידותי...

Thank you for your good news that the health situation has already improved... may he live a long and good life, and may it be G‑d's will that you will share good news also regarding the other matters you mention in your letter, and especially about receiving satisfaction from the conduct of all the young men... may they live, etc. Even in such cases applies the saying of our holy Rebbeim: Tracht gut vet zayn gut (Think good and it will be good), and this is also understood simply: when one looks at their conduct with a positive eye, then naturally one's conduct toward them matches this as well, and even more so one's speech. And what can be accomplished through words of closeness is obviously much greater than what can be achieved by acting in an opposite manner. Even though our Sages said that Kohanim are strict by nature, it is explained at length in many places in Chassidus that they are specifically from the line of kindness, especially those who merited a chassidic education...
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that positive thinking and viewing others favorably brings about better results. Approaching others with kindness and encouraging words is far more effective than criticism or harshness.
