בנועם הגיעני הדו"ח מפעולת אגודתם בשנה העברה, אף שמובן אשר המחזור צריך הי' להיות גדול יותר ובהרבה, שהרי בעוה"ר עדיין לא נתקיימה התפלה שלא יצטרכו עמך בית ישראל זה לזה, אבל תקותי חזקה שכל אחד מהם יעשה התלוי בו וכן ישפיע על ידידיו ומכיריו לעשות ככל התלוי בהם להגדלת האפשריות של קופת הגמ"ח ככל האפשרי ובהקדם האפשרי.
ובפרט ע"פ מאמר רז"ל אשר צדקה שקולה כנגד כל המצות (ומבואר הענין בכ"מ ובתניא פרק לד' ולז') ובמעלת הצדקה עצמה הרי גמ"ח היא הנעלית בזה וכפסק דין השו"ע, ויעויין ג"כ בד"ה כל המרחם על הבריות, נדפס בקונטרס ס"א.

It was pleasant for me to receive the report of your association's activities over the past year, even though it is understood that the turnover should have been much greater, for unfortunately our prayer has not yet been fulfilled that Your people Israel should not need one another. However, my strong hope is that each one will do what depends on him and will also influence his friends and acquaintances to do all they can to increase the possibilities of the Gemach fund as much as possible and as soon as possible.
Especially in light of our Sages' saying that charity is equal to all the mitzvos (and this matter is explained in many places and in Tanya chapters 34 and 37), and regarding the virtue of charity itself, Gemilus Chassadim is superior in this respect, as ruled in Shulchan Aruch. See also in the discourse "Kol HaMerachem Al HaBriyos," printed in Kuntres 61.
And based on what is written: "Chaver Ani Lechol Asher Yera'ucha V'Lishomrei Pikudecha" (I am a friend to all who fear You and keep Your precepts), I am enclosing my check—my symbolic participation—in your Gemach fund.
I await good news and bless each one of those who strive and are involved—they and their families—with all they need materially and spiritually.
