In response to your letter in which you write about purchasing "Ilanot" (Ilan HaBaal Shem Tov) and retroactively sending what is due for them. However, the situation of the funds here that are designated for printing matters and similar things—matters like those you write about—is difficult, even regarding the printing and publishing of books of Chassidus teachings, and even for their portion that falls specifically on these funds, i.e., Chabad Chassidus and its subjects, all the more so for publishing matters that go beyond this framework. Nevertheless, since you are approaching in your esteemed name, enclosed is a check in a symbolic amount.

On this occasion: I noticed in your letter's margin a list of books you have authored, and it is surprising that they are not found in my library. It is customary for authors in this field to ensure their books are present here since there is benefit to the public (aside from one book, it seems—Gedolei HaChassidus Part I).
