Since Divine Providence has placed you in a position where you can influence the strengthening and spreading of Judaism—which thereby brings the hearts of the Jewish people closer to our Father in Heaven—and it is known the saying of the Baal Shem Tov, which we have heard many times from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, that the dearness to the Holy One Blessed be He of every single Jew is like the dearness of an only child born to parents in their old age, and even more so beyond comparison—it is therefore understood that the reward for a person who brings about such closeness cannot be adequately described. This is the channel and vessel for increasing G‑d's blessings for all one's needs. Nevertheless, it is also clear that regarding oneself it is said: "Do not ignore your own flesh," so one must increase from time to time in studying our holy Torah—both its revealed and Chassidic aspects—for nothing stands in the way of willpower.

You surely know of the ancient custom to recite each day after morning prayers a daily portion of Tehillim as divided according to the days of the month; at least from now on you should keep this practice, and strive to establish this custom wherever your influence reaches.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that influencing others toward Judaism is both a privilege and a responsibility with immeasurable reward. At the same time, one must also focus on personal growth through Torah study and daily Tehillim, inspiring others by example.
