...מצערני סיום מכתבו אשר אתו אין עדיין כל חדש, וחוששני אשר אם בענין דבר מושלל בפשיטות אמרו עבר ושנה כהיתר נעשה לו, הנה ק"ו בענינו מתעסק לצאת ידי חובתו בלבד מפני ההרגל וכו' ובודאי שאין נחיצות להעתיק ולפרט מאמרי רז"ל המדברים בענין זה וערכו, שהרי ידועים הם ומפורסמים, ויה"ר שכיון שבכלל כל ענין שידוך וזיווג הוא למעלה מדרך הטבע וכמרז"ל הידוע המדמה זה לקרי"ס וכמ"ש ומה' אשה משכלת, הנה יה"ר שאפילו אם אינו עושה כלים בטבע יעשה הדבר בדרך נס.

...I am pained by the conclusion of your letter in which you write that there is still nothing new, and I fear that if regarding a matter obviously forbidden it is said that if one repeats it enough it becomes permitted to him, then all the more so in our case—one only engages in this matter to fulfill his obligation out of habit, etc. Certainly there is no need to repeat and specify the sayings of our Sages regarding this matter and its importance, for they are well-known and publicized. May it be G‑d's will that since in general all matters of shidduch and marriage are above the natural order—as our Sages famously compare it to the splitting of the sea, as it is written: 'and from Hashem comes a wise wife'—may it be G‑d's will that even if one does not make natural vessels for it, the matter should be accomplished in a miraculous way.
