Blessings and greetings!
In response to your letter from Thursday of Parshas Vayetze, in which you write about your health condition and the opinion of the doctor. It is clear that since the doctor says that if you maintain the diet, you may avoid surgery for a year or two or more, there is no reason to consider surgery. Especially since from time to time new treatments for such a condition are discovered, so it is very possible that you will not need surgery at all. This depends on your self-control: not getting upset and keeping to the diet and generally following the specialist's instructions as much as possible.
If you even briefly reflect on where you were just a few years ago—and that hundreds of thousands of Jews are still there today in their difficult circumstances—and compare your situation now to theirs, then entire days would not be enough to thank Hashem Yisbarech for His kindness. Then one sees how small current difficulties are compared to the above-mentioned kindnesses from Hashem Yisbarech. I am sure it is entirely unnecessary to elaborate further on this.
With blessing: Since it is now the month of Kislev—a month of miracles and goodness—may you share good news in all the above matters, as well as regarding your husband and children sheyichyu.
With blessings for healing and good tidings,
In the name of the Rebbe shlita,
Secretary
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that trust in Hashem and gratitude for past kindnesses help put present health challenges into perspective. By following medical advice with self-control and focusing on blessings, one can face difficulties with faith and optimism.
