This letter answers a question about when to set up a tombstone: find out whether the custom in the Holy Land is to wait a full year, and follow the local custom; where there is no fixed custom, or customs differ, the setting up should not be delayed.

Mrs. Frida, may she live

Brachah v'Shalom!

... As for what you write about setting up a tombstone: one should find out the custom in the Holy Land — whether they wait a full year or not — and act according to the local custom. If there is no fixed custom in this, or there are differing customs, the setting up should not be delayed.

May the Creator and Guide of the world lengthen your days and years in goodness, and may you always, all the days, report only good regarding yourself and your children and grandchildren, may they live.

With blessing.
