איך בין געווען צופרידען צו לייענען אין עם, אז בעת רצון רעווא דרעווין בעלות המנחה פון שבת מברכין אלול, האט איר מבאר געווען די ענינים פון חדש אלול, בתוככי בני ישראל וואס אכל בי עשרה שכינתא שריא, און בפרט אז עס ווערט גערעדט דברי תורה און דברי חסידות, און השי"ת זאל העלפען אז די התעוררות זאל אראפקומען בפועל, און די אלע וועלכע האבען גורם געווען צו דעם נעמען חלק בראש.
איך בין געווען צופרידען צו לייענען אין אייער בריף, אז איר וועט זיין דער שליח צבור בימי ראש השנה ויום הכפורים הבאים עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה.
און זיכער ווייסט איר די הוראה פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אז די אלע וועלכע זיינען יורד לפני התיבה אין די טעג, זאלען עטליכע טעג פאר דעם, דורכקוקען דעם פירוש המלות על כל פנים כפשוטו פון די תפלות און די פיוטים וועלכע מען איז זיך נוהג צו זאגען, און אין וועלכע מען איז ניט אזוי איינגעוויינט.
ויהי רצון, אשר השם יתברך שומע תפלת עמו ישראל ברחמים, יהי' מאזין ומקשיב לתפלת שלוחי עמו ישראל והוא בכלל זה, ויתן לכאו"א בתוך כלל ישראל שנה טובה ומתוקה בכל הענינים, און בפרט אז דער יאר הויבט זיך אן אז מען גייט אויף גרייטע, כוונתי, אז דער ערשטער טאג נאך ראש השנה דעם יאר איז דאך שבת קדש, וואס דענסטמאל איז דאך לויטן פתגם רז"ל, כל מלאכתך עשוי'.
וויבאלד חדש אלול איז דאך שוין א הכנה ובמקצת התחלה מעשרת ימי תשובה, וואס עס הויבען זיך אן שוין די טעג צו מקבל זיין פני המלך (ממה"מ הקב"ה), וכמ"ש בלקוטי תורה פרשת ראה לג, ב, זאלען זיך שוין אנהויבען די גוטע זאכען, און פון דעם ערשטען טאג וואס מען איז זיך נוהג צו זאגען דעם מזמור לדוד ה' אורי.

In response to your letter from Erev Chodesh HaRachamim. I was pleased to read in it that at an auspicious time, Reva D'Revin, during Minchah on Shabbat Mevarchim Elul, you explained the concepts of the month of Elul among Bnei Yisrael, where "the Shechinah dwells wherever ten are gathered," especially when words of Torah and Chassidus are spoken. May Hashem help that this awakening should come into actual deed, and all those who contributed to this should take a leading part.
I was pleased to read in your letter that you will be the shaliach tzibur for the upcoming Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for us and all Israel for good. Surely you know the instruction from my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nbg"m zya"a, that all those who descend before the amud on these days should, several days beforehand, review at least the simple meaning of the words of the prayers and piyutim that are customarily recited and those with which one is less familiar.
May it be His will that Hashem, Who hears the prayer of His people Israel with mercy, will listen attentively to the prayer of His emissaries among His people Israel—and you are included in this—and grant each individual within Klal Yisrael a good and sweet year in all matters. Especially as this year begins with going forth prepared; I mean that the first day after Rosh Hashanah this year is Shabbat Kodesh, about which our Sages say: "All your work is done."
Since Elul is already a preparation and in some measure a beginning of the Ten Days of Teshuvah—when we already begin to receive "the face of the King (our King Malkenu Hakadosh Baruch Hu)," as stated in Likkutei Torah Parshas Re'eh 33b—good things should already begin from this first day when we customarily start saying Mizmor L'David Hashem Ori.
