לפלא שזה זמן רב ביותר שלא נתקבלו ידיעות ממנו וגם לא ידיעות מאחרים אודותו, וכיון שבהזדמנות נודעתי אשר האברך... יודע כתבתו, שולח הנני שורותי אלה אליו על ידו.
והוא לעוררו על מ"ש בנים אתם לה' אלקיכם, בני בכורי ישראל, שכל אחד ואחת מבני ישראל בנים הם לאבינו שבשמים אשר מלא כל הארץ כבודו, ובלשון רבנו הזקן בספר תניא קדישא ריש פרק מ"א, נצב עליו (על כאו"א מאתנו) ומביט עליו ובוחן כליות ולב אם עובדו כראוי, ומזה מובן איך צריכה להיות ההנהגה של בניו של מלך מלכי המלכים הקב"ה, ורואים גם באדם התחתון, אשר איך שיהי' רצון האדם והנהגתו כשהוא בפני עצמו, הרי בהמצאו בנוכחותו של אביו והאב הוא חכם גדול עשיר גדול ושלם בכל המעלות, מתנהג הבן באופן אחר לגמרי, ואם כן הוא בהנוגע לאב גשמי שפעמים יש לדמות שיש לרמות אותו כי האדם יראה לעינים, עאכו"כ איך שצריכה לפעול הנוכחות של אבינו שבשמים אשר איהו ממלא כולהו עלמין את השמים ואת הארץ, ובחסדו הגדול הודיע את כ"א מהו מבקש, ואינו מבקש אלא לפי כחם, הם המצות האמורות בתורתנו הק' תורת חיים, ואחת המצות היסודיות מיוסד על מה שכתוב ואהבת לרעך כמוך, שאין להסתפק בהנהגה טובה של עצמו, וצריך להשפיע גם על הנמצא בסביבתו מבני ישראל שגם הם ילכו בדרך התורה והמצוה, וכשרוצים באמת מצליחים גם בזה, ואחכה לבשו"ט מפעולותיו בכל הענינים האמורים.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
It is surprising that for a very long time no news has been received from you, nor any information from others about you. Since I recently learned through someone who knows your address, I am sending these lines to you through him. This is to remind you of what is written: 'You are children to the L‑rd your G‑d,' 'My firstborn son Israel,' that every single Jew is a child of our Father in Heaven, Who fills the whole world with His glory. In the words of our master the Alter Rebbe in Tanya at the beginning of chapter 41: He stands over (each one of us) and observes him, examining his mind and heart to see if he serves Him properly. From this it is understood how the conduct should be for the children of the King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He.
We also see in human relationships that however a person wishes or behaves when alone, when he is in the presence of his father—especially if his father is very wise, wealthy, and perfect in all qualities—the son behaves completely differently. If this is true regarding a physical father—where sometimes one might think he can deceive him since man sees only with his eyes—how much more so should one be affected by the presence of our Father in Heaven Who fills all worlds, heaven and earth. In His great kindness He has informed each person what He asks from them—and He asks only according to their ability; these are the mitzvos stated in our holy Torah, a Torah of life.
One of the fundamental mitzvos is based on what is written: 'And you shall love your fellow as yourself.' It is not enough to behave well oneself; one must also influence those around him among the Jewish people so that they too will follow the path of Torah and mitzvah. When one truly desires this, he succeeds as well. I await good news regarding your activities in all these matters.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that being aware of G‑d's constant presence should inspire us to higher conduct and responsibility—not only for ourselves but also by positively influencing those around us to follow Torah and mitzvos.
