מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מט' אייר, ולפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר ע"ד הכנות מתאימות ליום הל"ג בעומר הבע"ל, שבכלל ידוע יחס המיוחד של אחינו הספרדים לרשב"י וכו'. והרי בשנה זו חל ביום שפנוים הנערים מלימודי חול וכו'. ותקותי שעכ"פ בפועל ינצלו את היום כדבעי, וכן יתדברו ביניהם בכגון דא בהנוגע לזמן מ"ת הבע"ל. והשי"ת יצליחו להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה וכמ"ש לאחד שענין זה (דיגדיל תורה ויאדיר) הוא שייך ומקומו בעומק תחת ועד עומק רום. וכדמוכח גם בנגלה דתורה מזה שהרמב"ם הביא כתוב זה למלמד תינוקות (בידו החזקה הלכות ת"ת ספ"ב), ומובא ג"כ בענין תורה שלמעלה ממעשה (חולין סו, ב).

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 9th of Iyar, and it is surprising that you do not mention anything regarding proper preparations for the upcoming Lag BaOmer, especially since it is well known that our Sephardic brethren have a unique connection to Rashbi, etc. This year, Lag BaOmer falls on a day when the boys are free from secular studies, etc.
My hope is that at least in practice you will utilize the day as is fitting, and that you will also discuss among yourselves matters such as this regarding the upcoming time of Matan Torah.
May Hashem grant you success in increasing Torah and glorifying it, as it is written to one for whom this matter (to increase Torah and glorify it) applies and whose place is from the deepest depth to the highest height. This is also evident in the revealed part of Torah from the fact that Rambam brings this verse regarding teachers of children (in his Yad HaChazakah, Hilchos Talmud Torah end of chapter 2), and it is also brought regarding Torah which is above action (Chullin 66b).
