מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מאדר"ח אייר ושלאחריו וכן המברקים, ובודאי כבר נודע לו מכבר מהמברק ששלחתי לכפר וכן לישיבת תו"ת, שמהם מובנת השקפתי אודות הצעה המוזרה להעתיק מלוד וכו' אבל לאידך גיסא מוכרח שיבואו תיכף בקישור עם המשרדים והאנשים המתאימים בהנוגע לתוספת שמירה, ושאלוני כאן מפני מה אין גדר תיל סביבות הכפר או זרק-אור נמצא במקום היותר גבוה בכפר, כלבים שמשתמשים בהם לשמירה וכיו"ב, כן כדאי הי' להעלות השאלה אודות הפרדסים, כיון שכמה מקומות העירו אשר משמשים הם מקום מחבוא מקשים על החפוש.
במ"ש אודות מכ' בעתונות העולמית וכו' תמיהני גם על ההצעה בזה, כיון א) ע"פ הנסיון שבעבר אין בזה כל תועלת ממשית בהנוגע לפועל; ובמכש"כ וק"ו שאישים מאלו שהציעו לפנות אליהם, לא שמו לב להנעשה בשנים האיומות דתש"א וכו'. ב) יש מקום לומר שהלחץ באופן כזה, אדרבה יגדיל מדת הנצחון של הצד שכנגד. ג) והוא העיקר, שכנראה שוכחים לגמרי שישנם אלפים ואלפים תלמידים-ות בבתי ספר חב"ד, להם כמה מורים ומשגיחים וכמו הרבנים מתוסוף, ליפסקר, פינסן וכו' שי' ופני' בעתונות הנ"ל בודאי תגיע לשם תומ"י ומובן החשש לענינים ח"ו שיכולה לגרום. באופן בלתי פרסומי כ"כ עשו כאן כמה פעולות בפני' להראשים כאן בתגובה חזקה ונמרצה; אבל לא ברשות הרבים, ומאידך גיסא בלחץ יותר חזק מאשר לחץ של עתונים וד"ל...

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from before Rosh Chodesh Iyar and those that followed, as well as the telegrams. Surely you have already learned from the telegram I sent to the village and also to the Tomchei Temimim Yeshivah, from which my view regarding the strange proposal to move from Lod, etc., is clear. On the other hand, it is essential to immediately connect with the appropriate offices and individuals regarding increased security. Here they asked me why there is no barbed wire fence around the village or a searchlight placed at the highest point in the village, guard dogs used for protection, and similar measures. It would also be worthwhile to raise the question about the orchards since several places have pointed out that they serve as hiding places and make searches more difficult.
Regarding what you wrote about an article in the world press, I am surprised by this suggestion as well because: a) Based on past experience, there is no real benefit in practice; all the more so since some of those suggested to be approached did not pay attention to what happened during those terrible years of 5701 (1941), etc. b) There is reason to say that such pressure will actually increase the resolve of the opposing side. c) Most importantly, it seems people are completely forgetting that there are thousands upon thousands of students in Chabad schools with many teachers and supervisors—such as Rabbis Mesusof, Lipsker, Pinsan, etc.—and any publicity in these newspapers will certainly reach them immediately. The concern for negative consequences is clear.
Here several actions were taken quietly but with strong and vigorous responses directed at leaders here—not publicly but with stronger pressure than that of newspapers. Enough said...
