Proper Conduct Toward Older Students and the Issue of Rebuke

... ועל העיקר באתי במ"ש בהנוגע לתלמידים... שנוהגים אתם בנזיפות וכו', ועד כדי הכאה... פשוט שהנהגה האמורה מופרכת היא בנוגע לתלמידים הקשישים ולולי מסתפינא הייתי אומר גם לתלמידים שאינם קשישים, וכמדומה שאמרתי לו עד"ז ג"כ בפירוש בעת ביקורו כאן, ומהנכון שתומ"י ישתנה הנ"ל...

... And to the main point I come regarding what was written about the students... that they are treated with rebuke, etc., even to the extent of hitting... It is obvious that such conduct is completely inappropriate regarding older students, and if I were not hesitant I would say this applies even to those who are not older. It seems to me that I already told him this explicitly during his visit here, and it would be proper for this to be changed immediately...
