Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 10th of Nissan: There is no need to apologize for writing here; on the contrary, it is gratifying if we can help someone in any way. Especially regarding your situation—even with all the reasons you write that this is not escaping from your responsibilities—experience shows otherwise. Every Jew, especially one whom Hashem has blessed with talent for education and influencing others, can certainly impact their surroundings. However, it must be words that come from the heart, which then enter the hearts of listeners. Even though in most cases results are not immediately visible, it is known from our holy Nesi'im's saying that persistent outreach never returns empty-handed. This is especially true since even by your own account there are hardly any G‑d-fearing activists in your area now.

Regarding what you write about your firstborn son reaching school age while your success with the community remains uncertain: It is also known what our Sages teach—that a person must do his part according to the command of our holy Torah of life. The command is: "You shall surely rebuke..." up to the point of sternness or even striking. It is clear and simple that fulfilling one mitzvah of Torah cannot possibly harm another mitzvah—G‑d forbid—such as "You shall teach them to your children," the mitzvah of education. On the contrary, one mitzvah brings another; especially since in this matter there is also the principle that "the measure of the Holy One matches measure for measure (and often many times over)." When you bring others closer to Hashem's Torah and mitzvos, surely the Creator will grant you even greater success in bringing your own son closer to Torah and mitzvos.

May it be G‑d's will that Hashem guide you in a good way before Him both materially and spiritually together.

With blessing.

In the name of the Rebbe shlita — Mazkir

Summary

The Rebbe encourages using one's abilities to positively influence others while assuring that fulfilling communal responsibilities does not detract from family education. Rather, both areas strengthen each other and bring increased blessing for success in all aspects.
