מאשר אני קבלת מכתבו מ3/11, בו כותב אודות שרותו ומבקש ברכה.
ויהי רצון מבורא עולם ומנהיגו אשר ישפיע לו ברכה בעניניו הפרטים ובענינים הכללים, היינו השפעתו על הסביבה, אשר אצל איש הישראלי זה בזה תלוי, כי כל אחד ואחד מאתנו בתוך כלל ישראל זקוק לקבלת ברכה והצלחה מלמעלה בחיי היום יומים, ועל אחת כמה וכמה אלו הנמצאים בצבא, וכדי שתהי' הברכה וההצלחה במדה מסויימת מקסימלית, צריכים להראות שגם מבקש הברכה מתנהג בדומה לזה, היינו שמשפיע עזרה ומסייע לכל אלו שיכול לעזור להם מבלי לבקש שכר וגמול על זה, ומדתו של השם יתברך שהיא מדה כנגד מדה מתנהג באופן כזה עם מבקש הברכה, ולכן עליו לנצל השפעתו על כל חבריו להודיעם מתוכן תורתנו תורת חיים ולקרבם לקיום מצותי', אשר עליהם נאמר, וחי בהם, ולא יסתפק בדבור פעם או שתים אלא עד שיבואו דבריו לפועל ולשינוי בפועל, וכבר ידוע הפתגם דברים היוצאין מן הלב נכנסים אל הלב ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונו, ובפרט שמתקרבים אנו לימי חג המצות זמן חירותינו מגלות מצרים בעת ההיא וחירות הקשורה בחירות הנפש, וכלשון הכתוב בהוציאך את העם ממצרים תעבדון את האלקים על ההר הזה, הר סיני וקבלת התורה, שכן הוא בזמן הזה אשר הגאולה והחירות אמיתית תלוים וקשורים בהחלטה איתנה בלימוד התורה ובקיום מצותי' ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
ינעם לי אם ימסור פ"ש וברכת החג גם לחבריו בסביבתו ויחוגו כאו"א מהם וכולם יחד את חג הפסח הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה בכשרות ובשמחה.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter from March 11, in which you write about your service and request a blessing. May it be the will of the Creator and Ruler of the world that He bestow upon you blessing in your personal matters and in general matters—meaning your influence on your environment—for with a Jew these are interconnected. Each one of us within the Jewish people needs to receive blessing and success from Above in daily life, and all the more so those serving in the army. In order for this blessing and success to be maximized, one must also act similarly—helping and assisting everyone he can without seeking payment or reward for it. The attribute of Hashem is measure for measure; He acts this way with one who seeks blessing.
Therefore, you should use your influence on all your friends to inform them about the content of our Torah—the Torah of life—and bring them closer to fulfilling its mitzvos, about which it is said: "And you shall live by them." Do not be satisfied with speaking once or twice but continue until your words have an actual effect and bring about real change. It is well known that words that come from the heart enter the heart, and everything depends only on one's will.
Especially as we approach Pesach—the Festival of our Freedom—from Egypt at that time, and freedom connected with freedom of the soul. As it says: "When you bring out the people from Egypt, you will serve G‑d on this mountain" (Mount Sinai) and receiving the Torah. So too now: true redemption and freedom depend on a firm decision to study Torah and fulfill its mitzvos. Nothing stands in the way of one's will.
I would be pleased if you would convey regards and holiday blessings to your friends around you so that each one individually and all together celebrate Pesach—which is coming upon us and all Israel for good—in a kosher and joyful manner.

The Rebbe teaches that selfless help to others brings down Hashem's greatest blessings. By influencing those around us toward Torah observance without seeking reward, we become vessels for Divine kindness—especially during times connected to redemption like Pesach.
