...Regarding what you wrote about naming the newborn, it is known that the response of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, in such cases is that specifically the parents should decide this. This is understood according to what is written in the writings of the Arizal: that Hashem places specifically in the mouths of the parents that very name which is necessary for that soul according to its place in Adam HaElyon from where it was hewn. This name is inscribed above on the Throne of Glory (see Shaar HaGilgulim Introduction 23; also see Emek HaMelech Shaar 1 end of chapter 4; Or HaChaim HaKadosh Devarim 29:19; Degel Machaneh Ephraim to Bereishis and others).
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that naming a child is a unique responsibility given to parents, as they are divinely inspired with the name suited for their child's soul and spiritual source.
