Shalom u'Vrachah!

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from some time ago, as well as the pidyon nefesh from the day of the hilulah, which will be read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of the Baal HaHilulah, my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal lehe nbagam zy"a.

I was pleased by what you wrote about your success in bringing some fellow Jews closer to matters of Torah and mitzvot. If regarding one soul our Sages taught that it is as if one sustains an entire world—how much more so with several souls! It is already known that even a single mitzvah action—even if only once—the unification above is eternal forever (Tanya end ch. 25), especially when you have merited to be the intermediary for several good deeds and mitzvot.

May it be G‑d's will that you also fulfill here the ruling that one mitzvah brings another mitzvah; meaning that your own desire and enthusiasm for all these activities should increase, and thus you will be granted opportunities to fulfill your heart's wishes for good—in matters concerning your household and others as well.

After asking your forgiveness—and prefacing with what is known about the greatness of peace, for which reason all of Torah was given (as ruled by Rambam at the end of Hilchot Chanukah), and not only this but it is a matter stated in Mishnah: 'the vessel that holds G‑d's blessing'—allow me to encourage you to strengthen peace in your home. That is: literally between you and your wife (may she live), as can be inferred between the lines and also from my conversation here with her and her mood (stimmung). It is worthwhile for you to make extra effort to be yielding in your character traits and exert yourself as much as possible in this area. The importance of this matter is well known—even in nigleh of Torah—by what our Sages said: that G‑d commanded His great Name written in holiness—and specifically His explicit Name—to be erased by a Kohen solely for making peace between husband and wife; even when the woman behaves in a way that arouses jealousy heaven forbid. How much more so with a modest woman who raises her family in chassidut—that all efforts here are an exalted mitzvah.

I hope you will gladden me with good news that you are doing all you can in this regard, following our Sages' guidance that women are more sensitive—so gladden your wife's heart appropriately; not through tension but specifically by showing a pleasant countenance etc.

Certainly these few lines will suffice as well, and I await good news.

With blessings for success in all mentioned above.

Summary

The Rebbe highlights both the immeasurable value of bringing Jews closer to Torah and mitzvot—even once—and stresses that true blessing comes through fostering peace at home. He encourages extra effort toward harmony with one's spouse as a foundation for personal and communal success.
