Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 5th of Teves, as you write after your previous letter from a year and a half ago, it is understood that during this time you could—and therefore were obligated—to advance in the study of Chassidus and following its guidance and customs. I searched for at least an outline of this in the four pages of your letter but did not find even a hint—only more questions.
It is surprising for a Jew who knows that the giving of the Torah was preceded by 'Naaseh v'Nishma' ("We will do and we will hear") specifically, and generally as ruled in Mishnah Berachos at the beginning of chapter two: all matters for a Jew begin with accepting the yoke (of Heaven). Yet it seems you have taken an opposite approach—piling question upon question; when you receive answers to earlier ones, you dig up new ones.
I judged favorably that perhaps between your two letters you studied Chassidus thoroughly for yourself as well as Nigleh (revealed Torah), so that your learning led to action; only out of humility do you not wish to boast. Still, there should have been at least some hint of this in your letter. Most importantly, if your questions were then phrased differently, there would be no need to preface them by saying they are not meant provocatively or contentiously—the style would show it. Also, before writing down a question you would search relevant sources to see if there is really any basis for it. Nevertheless, since ultimately this has not been resolved, I will briefly address those questions that are practically relevant:
a) In the talks of Chabad leaders are found details about earlier periods of Chassidus not mentioned elsewhere. It seems you wish to draw alarming conclusions from this. Like most such questions, their root is lack of knowledge; otherwise you'd know that even the first book on such matters is 'Shivchei HaBaal Shem Tov', written mainly based on words from Rabbeinu HaZaken regarding Tanya and Shulchan Aruch—as explained in its introduction. This is not the place to elaborate.
b) Regarding the Siddur: how did changes in versions come about and what caused them when it says on the title page they are Nusach Ari? See the introduction to Shaar HaKolel about how Siddurim were printed over time. Since they were printed by people—about each person it says 'who can discern errors?'—there were mistakes even in the first Siddur. Already in Rabbeinu HaZaken's time they prepared correction tables; from time to time things were clarified among chassidim according to accepted tradition.
c) Regarding measurements: In his book, Harav Hagaon Harav Hachasid Moreinu Hachaim Naeh z"l brings various measurements and notes whether these are reasoned opinions or also received traditions among chassidim.
d) On your third and fourth questions: I do not see any practical difference for you regarding Torah study or mitzvah observance; therefore it's a waste of your time to delve into matters unrelated to each person's mission—as stated in Mishnah: "I was created to serve my Maker."
Blessings for good news regarding yourself,
In the name of His Honor our Rebbe shlit"a,
Secretary
