Greetings and blessing!

In reply to your letter, which you began writing on Motzaei Shabbos Kodesh [Parshas] Bereishis; I also acknowledge receipt of your letter of Chol HaMoed Sukkos.

Many, many thanks for writing about the affairs of the Kfar [Kfar Chabad], etc., although even now not in the detail required. As I wrote long ago, כל המפרט בכגון דא הרי זה משובח, "whoever elaborates on such matters is praiseworthy" (after the Haggadah: "whoever tells at length of the Exodus from Egypt is praiseworthy"); may it be His will that at least from now on you will do so, and many thanks in advance.

As for what you write about various considerations in your occupation: I have already written you my opinion on this, that each person has a main task, and the other matters have their place if they do not interfere with the main one. Since the distribution of the seforim rests on your shoulders, and it requires added strength and courage, for much has been lacking in the distribution until now, it is understood that you should not occupy yourself with anything that would interfere with it.

As you request, I will mention all those you write about at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of sainted memory, whose soul is in the hidden treasuries on high, may his merit protect us, for what each of them needs, as you wrote.

Surely you are continuing to correspond with those you met during your service in the reserves, for אין אתנו יודע עד מה, "none among us knows to what extent" (cf. Tehillim 74:9), and perhaps this is one of the main purposes for which you were sent there: to arouse in them and set aflame the point of Judaism that is in each and every Jew...

Surely you will report more details about the farbrengen of Shabbos Parshas Noach; and the main thing: whether there is some change in practice as a result, and in which matters.

As for what you write, that your daughter, may she live, does not want to eat: it would be worthwhile to ask a doctor, a pediatrician, about the medicines given for appetite; it may be that certain things are lacking in the food and drink given to her, and that this is the cause of her lack of appetite.

May G‑d grant you success in raising her to Torah, to the chuppah and to good deeds (after the blessing at a bris, Shabbos 137b), and may she be a Chassidishe daughter.
