Consulting the Mara D'asra Regarding Practices of Abstinence

The Rebbe advises that questions regarding practices of abstinence should be presented to the local rabbinic authority (mara d'asra), along with all relevant arguments and details, and that one should follow his guidance. The Rebbe notes he generally does not favor such conduct for several reasons.
