Regarding what you wrote about the young man who wants to pray in a place with greater fear of Heaven, etc., and his father does not agree to this — his ruling is already explicit in Sefer Chamudei Daniel (brought in Pischei Teshuvah on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah end of siman 240) that he does not need to listen to his father. However, it is obvious that he must do this in a respectful manner and with peaceful ways.

A son may choose to pray in a more religious synagogue even against his father's wishes, as long as he acts respectfully and maintains peace.
