As you write that you serve as the Chazan, you surely know the longstanding custom in this matter: several days before leading the congregation in prayer, one should review all the prayers and piyutim to at least know the literal meaning of the words. This should be done throughout the year, reviewing even what is already known. Of course, one should also be familiar with the general laws of prayer and especially those relevant to someone who leads the congregation. May Hashem grant you success in all of the above.
