במענה על מכתבו מח' תמוז, בו שואל דעתי אודות זמן נסיעתו לצרפת.
והנה בזמן הקיץ יש שם כמה שינויים בסדרי הישיבה, ולכן אין כדאי כ"כ לבוא שם דוקא בזמן שהסדרים אינם סדרים הרגילים, ויש לחכות בנסיעה זו עד סוף הקיץ או תחלת החורף.
מובן ופשוט אשר תהי' תועלת בהנסיעה אם יחליט בהחלטה גמורה להתנהג בהישיבה מתאים להסדרים שלה, וכיון שלא קל לאדם לשנות את עצמו בפעם אחת מן הקצה אל הקצה, הנה גם בזה תועלת במה שמתעכבת הנסיעה, כי בהחדשים שבינתים עליו להתרגל צעד אחד צעד להנהגה האמורה לעיל, והוא על ידי שילמוד בינתים בישיבת תומכי תמימים דמאנטרעאל, ולא לבד בשמירת הסדרים דימי הקיץ אשר בודאי גם במאנטרעאל אינם בסדרים הרגילים, אלא מתאם לסדרים הרגילים בכל השנה, וילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה ויתנהג כמתאים לתלמיד ישיבת תומכי תמימים בדבור ובמעשה, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.

In response to your letter from the 8th of Tammuz, in which you ask my opinion regarding the timing of your trip to France. During the summer there are several changes in the yeshiva's schedule, so it is not so advisable to come specifically at a time when the regular order is not maintained. It is better to wait with this trip until the end of summer or the beginning of winter.
It is clear and obvious that there will be benefit from this trip if you firmly resolve to conduct yourself in the yeshiva according to its standards. Since it is not easy for a person to change himself all at once from one extreme to another, there is also benefit in delaying the trip: during these intervening months you should accustom yourself step by step to the aforementioned conduct. This can be accomplished by studying meanwhile at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Montreal—not only keeping to the summer schedule (which surely even in Montreal is not as regular as usual), but according to the regular schedule throughout the year. Study diligently and behave as befitting a student of Tomchei Temimim in both speech and action, and may Hashem grant you success and good news in all of the above.
Summary
The Rebbe guides that waiting until after summer for travel allows for better adjustment and preparation. In the meantime, one should gradually adopt proper habits and maintain diligent study where they are.
