במענה על מכתבו ממוצאי חג השבועות - ובהנוגע להאתרוגים, הנה צריך הי' - מבלי לעשות רעש בזה - לנסוע איש מתאים למקום הפרדס, ושיהי' ג"כ אחד היודע בשפת המדינה, וידבר עם בעל הפרדס באופן דמסיח לפי תומו - בהנוגע לאופן גידולם של האילנות וכו'. ומה טוב לדבר עד"ז גם עם אנשים צדדיים הדרים במקום ההוא שאינם נוגעים כלל בדבר, אבל בטח, כדרך שכנים, יודעים אופן הטפול בהפרדסים. ובמילא יש מקום לומר שיבררו פרט הנ"ל. נוסף על זה כדאי לקחת שלשה אתרוגים מאילנות שונים שבפרדס ולבדקם בהתאם להסימנים המובאים באחרונים. והובאו ג"כ בשער הכולל. ומובן שההקדם בכל זה ישובח. ובפרט שיש מקום לומר שיקדמונו אחרים.
כיון שאין טעם לומר שרק פרדס זה הוא בלתי מורכב, ובודאי ישנם עוד מקומות כאלו, הנה כדאי הי' שיבדקו גם במקומות עוד, ויבררו כהנ"ל. ומובן שעל ההוצאות בדבר במקח השוה - גם אני אשתתף בזה.
כיון שאינו מזכיר ע"ד האברך ... כנראה שאין אצלו ידיעות ממנו, ובודאי גם הוא הי' יכול לסייע בזה, ואפשר יסייע לו מר ... שי', שבודאי הרבה מכירים לו בעירו ובמדינה, ומהם גם כאלו שיתרצו לעשות נסיעה כהנ"ל ויהיו מזורזים וממולחים לברר בכל הנ"ל. ובקשר לזה - שימצאו גם מקום לקחת משם גרעינים ושתילים, כי אינני מאמין שרק בחדש טבת אפשר לעשות זה.
נהניתי ממ"ש שיצא כבר מהדפוס מש"כ בעניני פסח בלשון המדינה. ולפלא שלא צירף זה במכתבו, ואפילו אינו כותב אם נכתב זה במכ"ע בחוברת או כיו"ב. ובטח שישלח לכאן הנדפס בהקדם, ות"ח מראש. וה"ה בנוגע לעניני חג השבועות שכותב אודותם...

In response to your letter from after Shavuos—and regarding the esrogim—it would have been proper, without making a commotion, to send a suitable person to the orchard location, someone who also knows the local language, to speak with the orchard owner in a casual manner about how the trees are grown, etc.
It is even better to speak about this with unrelated locals who live there and have no stake in the matter but surely, as neighbors, know how the orchards are tended. Thus, it is likely they can clarify this detail.
Additionally, it is worthwhile to take three esrogim from different trees in the orchard and check them according to the signs brought by later authorities. These are also cited in Shaar HaKolel. Naturally, doing all this sooner is preferable—especially since others may act before us. Since there is no reason to say only this orchard is not grafted and surely there are other such places, it would be worthwhile to check elsewhere as well and clarify as above.
Of course, I will also participate in reasonable expenses for this matter.
Since you do not mention anything about the young man ... it seems you have no information about him; surely he could help with this as well. Perhaps Mr. ... can assist him—certainly many know him in his city and country; among them are those willing to make such a trip as described above and will be diligent and resourceful in clarifying all of the above.
In connection with this—they should also find a place from which seeds and saplings can be taken; I do not believe that this can only be done in Teves.
I was pleased by what you wrote that what you wrote regarding Pesach in the local language has already been printed. It is surprising you did not enclose it with your letter or even mention if it was published in a periodical or similar. Surely you will send here what was printed promptly—thank you in advance. The same applies regarding matters of Shavuos that you write about...
