In response to your letter from Motzaei Chag HaShavuot—and regarding the etrogim: it would have been proper—without making a commotion—to send a suitable person to the orchard location, who is also fluent in the local language, to speak with the orchard owner in a way that seems casual about how the trees are cultivated, etc.

It is even better to discuss this with unrelated locals living in that area who have no connection to the matter but surely, as neighbors, know how the orchards are tended. Thus, there is reason to say they could clarify this detail.

Additionally, it is worthwhile to take three etrogim from different trees in the orchard and examine them according to the signs brought by later authorities. These are also cited in Shaar HaKolel. Of course, acting promptly in all this is praiseworthy—especially since others may act first. Since there is no reason to say only this orchard is not grafted—and surely there are other such places—it would be good to check other locations as well and clarify as above.

Understandably, regarding expenses at fair market value—I will also participate in this.

Since you do not mention anything about the Avrech ... it seems you have no information about him; surely he too could assist with this.
