In response to your letter from the 21st of Iyar, which I enjoyed reading regarding your meeting with my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, during his stay in Eretz HaKodesh, as well as with your father, my revered father the Rebbe—zatzukal lehe nbgm zya. It is well known the instruction of the Baal Shem Tov that everything a Jew sees or hears contains some lesson relevant to his ultimate purpose—that is, 'I was created to serve my Maker.' All the more so when it comes to an encounter with the leaders of Israel, who are guides for their generation and for generations after them...
With honor and blessings for the festival and as per the saying of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe: to receive the Torah with joy and inwardness.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every experience—especially meetings with Jewish leaders—carries a lesson for our Divine service. Encounters with tzaddikim are opportunities to deepen our purpose in serving G‑d joyfully and internally.
