הנה מובן שנכון הדבר, אלא לשלימות הענין צריך להורות המקור ממנו נלקח הקטע, בכדי שהרוצה להרחיב הבנתו בענין יוכל ללמדו במקורו, ומובן ג"כ שאין כדאי לערב בילקוט זה פתגמים שלא מהנ"ל, ואפילו פתגמים מגדולי עולם ופשוט, ובהתאים לכל זה טוב ג"כ שיצוין ע"ד הענין המובא, אם זהו בלשונו ממש או בהעתקה מלשון אחרת, והשי"ת יצליחו.

In response to your letter from the thirty-second day of the Omer, in which you write that you are arranging collections from the words of our holy Rebbes organized by the weekly Torah portion. It is understood that this is a proper thing; however, for completeness, it is necessary to indicate the source from which each excerpt is taken, so that anyone wishing to deepen their understanding can study it at its origin. It is also clear that it is not appropriate to mix into this collection sayings that are not from those mentioned above—even sayings from great Torah figures—and this is obvious. In accordance with all this, it is also good to note regarding each topic brought whether it is in its original wording or adapted from another language. May Hashem grant you success.
