Shalom u'Vrachah!
Your pan (pidyon nefesh), as well as the four pans from your sons, were received and read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may the memory of the righteous and holy be a blessing for life in the World to Come).
In response to your question—whether to pray on Shabbat in a minyan and come home together with your entire family or to extend your prayer: It is surprising that there is even a doubt about this, and this has already been addressed in a letter from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe (the Rashab) of blessed memory, printed in the third supplement to Kuntres Etz HaChayim section 4. If this was so during times of light and outside of Eretz Yisrael, how much more so in our generation's doubled and redoubled darkness and especially in the palace of the King.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that extending one's prayer on Shabbat is essential, especially in spiritually challenging times and places of holiness like Eretz Yisrael. Prioritizing meaningful prayer over rushing home is emphasized as vital for spiritual growth.
