במענה על מכתבו המהיר, הנה נעם לי לקרות בו אשר נסתדר ענין לימוד התניא ברבים בהשיעורים שלהם. ומ"ש שעדיין צריך יותר התלהבות, הרי ידוע אשר כל בני ישראל הם קומה שלימה ובמילא כאשר נתוסף חיות והתלהבות באיזה איבר שיהי' מהקומה מוכרח שיתוסף התלהבות ג"כ בהשאר, ואפילו כשההתחלה בזה מאבר השומע ולא מאבר המדבר. מובן שאין כוונתי בזה שהמדבר יסמוך על השומע, אבל לאידך גיסא גם השומע עצמו צריך לעשות בהנ"ל ומאיר עיני שניהם ה'.
מ"ש אודות... שי' ומקום לימוד לזמן הבע"ל הרי בענינים כמו אלו צריך להתייעץ עם מוריו ומחנכיו הנפגשים אתו מדי יום ביומו ולהתחשב עם הוראותיהם כיון שהם הרואים את הנער בעת לימודו ובעת היותו עם חבריו, ורואים בלי נטי', משא"כ הורים אשר חשודים הם מפני אהבת ההורים לילידיהם להביט על הענינים ולראותם לא כמו שהם באמת, וכיון שרצון הורים וחפצם הוא טובת הנער לאמיתתה ולאורך ימים ולא טובה זמנית הנה מובן שכדאי חסרון בעניני הנער לפי שעה ובלבד שילך בדרך הישר ויתענגו ממנו לארך ימים ושנים...

In response to your prompt letter, I was pleased to read that the matter of public Tanya study has been arranged in your classes. Regarding your comment that more enthusiasm is still needed: it is known that all Jews are like a complete body, and therefore when vitality and enthusiasm are increased in any limb of the body, it is inevitable that enthusiasm will also increase in the others—even if this begins with the limb that hears rather than the one that speaks. Of course, my intention is not that the speaker should rely on the listener; on the contrary, the listener himself must also take action in this regard, and "the L‑rd enlightens both their eyes."
Regarding ... shiy" and a place of study for the coming time: in such matters one should consult with his teachers and educators who meet with him daily and take their guidance into account since they see the boy during his studies and when he is with friends—and they see without bias. This is unlike parents who are suspected (due to parental love for their children) of viewing matters not as they truly are. Since parents' desire is for their child's true good for long-term benefit—not just temporary good—it is understood that it is worthwhile to accept some lack in the child's situation for a short time if only he will go on a straight path and bring them pleasure for many days and years.
As you requested, I will mention all those you wrote about at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. May Hashem grant you success to share good news soon.
