אחרי הדומי' הארוכה נתקבל סו"ס מכתבם מט' מ"ח עם המצורפים אליו, ות"ח עכ"פ על כתיבתם עתה, ותקותי אשר להבא יסדרו שלא יהי' הפסקים ארוכים כ"כ, אשר זה גופא שידעו שצריכים לכתוב עד"ז יוסיף בהעבודה.
ב) אף שבכלל נהניתי מהפעולות דחדש תשרי, אבל ענין חשוב חסר בהם והוא התנועה של התפשטות והתרחבות שהרי צ"ל מעלין בקדש ולגבי פעולותיהם מאז הנה לא לבד שלא נתגדלו אלא אדרבה. מבין הנני את הטעמים בהם הנזכרים הנרמזים במכתבם ג"כ אבל הרי ידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שזהו נוגע למלאך מיכאל הרושם זכיותיהם שלישראל ומלמד זכות עליהם, וכשיש טעם חשוב הרי אין מקום לקובלנא, אבל בהנוגע לעצמנו ידוע פתגם הצמח צדק אנן פעלי דיממא אנן אויף צו מאכען ליכטיק, וכשחסרה הפעולה חסרה ג"כ ההארה מהמאור ולפעמים גם המאור במקום פלוני ופלוני והאריכות לדכוותייהו בודאי אך למותר.
ג) לפלא שאין מזכירים במכ' אודות הופעת חוברת הבטאון הבאה שכיון שהקודמים עשו רושם טוב בטח ימשיכו בזה בקשר ליומא דפגרא ומועדי חב"ד ובפרט דחדש כסלו, והשי"ת יצליחם.
ד) כמדומה שכבר עוררתים ע"ד הנחיצות בהתענינות מיוחדת לחדור לחוגי הנוער החרדי (ומובן שחוגי הישיבות עיקר בזה) ואפילו לחוגי הנוער שלע"ע אינם חרדים ובזה הנה אנשי הצבא ג"כ חלק עיקרי ובהתענינות המתאימה ימצאו הדרכים גם לזה.
המחכה לבשו"ט וחותם בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם בקדש והצלחה מופלגה בדוקא.

After a long silence, your letter from the 9th of MarCheshvan was finally received with its enclosures. Thank you in any case for writing now, and I hope that in the future you will arrange things so that there will not be such long pauses between letters. The very awareness that one is expected to write about these matters will itself add to the work.
b) Although overall I enjoyed the activities of Tishrei, an important element was missing: the drive for spreading and expanding. After all, one must always ascend in holiness, and compared to your previous activities, not only did they not grow but on the contrary. I understand the reasons mentioned or hinted at in your letter as well, but it is known what my father-in-law the Rebbe said: such reasons are relevant to the angel Michael who records Israel's merits and advocates for them; when there is a good reason there is no room for complaint. But regarding ourselves, it is known what the tzt"z said: "Anan po'alei d'yomma anan uftzu machen lichtik" (We are workers of daylight; our job is to make light). When action is lacking, so too is illumination from the source—and sometimes even the source itself in certain places. The elaboration is surely understood by you but is unnecessary here.
c) It is surprising that your letter does not mention the upcoming issue of your journal. Since previous issues made a good impression, surely you will continue this work—especially connected to special days and Chabad festivals, particularly in Kislev. May Hashem grant you success.
d) It seems I have already raised with you the necessity of special interest in reaching into circles of religious youth (and obviously yeshiva circles are primary here), and even among youth who are not yet observant. In this regard, army personnel also form an important part; with proper attention you will find ways for this as well.
I await good news and sign off with blessings for success in your holy work and outstanding success specifically.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that ongoing growth and outreach are essential in communal work; excuses may justify us before others but should never limit our own efforts. We must continually expand our impact—especially among youth—and ensure our actions bring greater light into the world.
