I was pleased to receive your letter from the 11th of Cheshvan, in which you write that you visit villages on behalf of Harav Hagaon and Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z b'emunah etc., Moreinu Harav Shlomo from Tosaf. The greatness of this merit cannot be adequately expressed. It is well known the saying of the Baal Shem Tov (which we have heard many times from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory) that every single Jew is beloved by the Holy One Blessed Be He beyond comparison—even more than an only child born to parents in their old age. From this, one can estimate how great the merit is when one brings the heart of this only son closer to his Father in Heaven. Especially since you write that this also involves physical effort, as you must ride an animal, etc.—according to the effort is the reward.

May it be G‑d's will that you see with your own eyes success in this holy work—for this is the greatest reward. As stated in the Mishnah: "The reward for a mitzvah is a mitzvah," and may this success extend into your personal matters as well. Certainly, as our Sages rule: "One ascends in holiness," may you increase strength in all the above, and whoever adds is given more from Heaven—both materially and spiritually—in all that he needs.
