...Regarding what you wrote about being offered a position in the rabbinate... Certainly, in accordance with the responsibility placed upon rabbis at all times—and especially in our era and particularly in a neighborhood of young people—you should strengthen yourself greatly in matters of Yirat Shamayim (awe of Heaven), both inwardly and outwardly. This follows the ruling of our Sages that a Torah scholar must be "tocho kebaro" (his inside like his outside). As is known from the Mishnah: "It is not study that is most important but action," so conduct and communal guidance are even more relevant—especially nowadays—to emphasize the practical side: observance of Shabbat, family purity, proper education, etc., etc. There is much to elaborate on this but it is unnecessary here.
As we approach the new year that is coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to you: may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year materially and spiritually.
