מסר לי הרה"ח הוו"ח וכו' מהורמח"א שי' חדקוב אודות קושי מצבו ועד כמה שמרגיש את גודל אחריותו להשפיע לטובה על משפחתו שי' וסביבתו.
והנה ידוע הוא אשר דרש כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ מכל אלו שזכו להסתופף בצלו, ומכל שכן מאלו שזכו להיות תלמידיו, אשר יהיו נרות להאיר דוקא, ולא הסתפק בדרישה, כי אם גם האציל מרוחו והשפיע בהם כח אשר בהשתדלות הראוי' יוכלו למלאות דרישה זו.
ובכל אחד מאתנו תלוי להוציא כח זה מן הכח אל הפועל, אף שלפעמים דרוש לזה התחזקות יתירה ויגיעה.
כי אם כאשר... ומשפטיו עם ישראל (עיין תנחומא חקת יו"ד).

It is well known that my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m, demanded from all those who merited to be in his presence—and all the more so from those who merited to be his students—that they should be "candles to illuminate" specifically. He did not suffice with a demand alone; he also imparted from his spirit and gave them the strength that with proper effort they could fulfill this demand.
It depends on each of us to bring this potential into actuality, even though sometimes it requires extra strengthening and effort. For if when... and His judgments with Israel (see Tanchuma Chukat Yud).
