ב) מה שציינתי לתויו"ט ושל"ה - הוא בנוגע לחילוק הל' "אמר ר' פלוני" או "ר' פלוני אומר". עתה ראיתי מציינים שמדובר בזה בשד"ח קונ' הכללים אות א' ס"ק שס"ה, ואינו אצלי לעיין בו.

In response to your letter from Wednesday, Parshas Chukas:
a) Regarding what you wrote about Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak (RNB"Y), who holds "not from it nor from any part of it," you asked whether he disagrees with the opinion that a Torah scholar must possess all eight qualities, and whether this is also the Rambam's view. See Hagahos Maimoniyos on Hilchos Deos 2:3, where he explicitly writes that RNB"Y disagrees with all of them. Similarly, in his commentary on the Mishnah (Avos 4:4), he writes that the one who says 'in excommunication is one who lacks it' means specifically lacking all eight qualities; thus, it must be said that Rambam also holds this applies to a Torah scholar (as is straightforward in Rashi's wording), and this is what RNB"Y disagrees with.
b) Regarding my reference to Tosefos Yom Tov and Shelah—this was concerning the distinction between the phrases "Amar Rabbi Ploni" (Rabbi so-and-so said) or "Rabbi Ploni Omer" (Rabbi so-and-so says). I have now seen that others cite that this is discussed in Sdei Chemed, Kuntres HaKlallim, letter alef, subsection 365, but I do not have it available to review.
