Since it became known that the eighteenth day of Elul is the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe, it has become customary in many places—especially in Chabad synagogues—to make that day a farbrengen. This includes telling stories of tzaddikim, strengthening chassidic ways in general and Ahavas Yisrael in particular, and making resolutions to set fixed times for Torah study—both revealed and hidden aspects.
With special inspiration, this birthday is celebrated in the home of the Rebbe. The Admor (Rebbe) delivers words of inspiration in Torah and service, and sometimes—even a maamar Chassidus...
