במענה על כתבם בקשתם ושאלתם
בהתאם עם שנוי הסדרים, בכמה מהישיבות, בחדשי הקיץ, הנני להעיר את תשומת לבם על הדברים דלקמן:
(א) גם בימים אשר התלמידים נמצאים בישיבה ושוקדים על למודיהם, החובה מוטלת על מחנכיהם שלא להסיח דעתם מתלמידיהם גם בשעות היותם מחוץ לכתלי הישיבה, ולהשתדל בכל עוז אשר הנהגתם ודרכי חייהם תהיינה בכל עת ובכל שעה כדבעי למהוי.
ומכל שכן בימי החופש בקיץ, אשר אז דרושה התענינות יתרה בתלמידים לדעת אודות כל אחד ואחד מהם אי' הם נמצאים ובמה הם עוסקים, ולסייע להם בכל מיני סיוע ללכת בדרך הנכונה והישרה. וכדרז"ל דאף כשאינו נראה להתלמידים - מפקח ורואה להיות דעתו עליהם (ב"ב ח, ב. ובחדא"ג שם).
(ב) לעלי' - אין קץ, ולכן גם המורים המומחים ביותר, כדאי אשר ינצלו את ימי החופש כדי להוסיף על ידיעותיהם בדברים הנוגעים לעבודתם, שהיא מלאכת הוי' (ב"ב כא, ב).
(ג) כדאי לעורר את הבעה"ב העסקנים שבישיבות, אשר ישתדלו, בהמצאם בנאות דשא להנפש, לנצל כל הזדמנות שנפגשים אז בפנים חדשות לקרבם לעזר הישיבות, ולהסבירם אשר עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותומכי' מאושר. ואל תקרא מאושר אלא מראשו, שהם ממשיכים מראש כל ההמשכות וההשפעות (זח"ג נג, ב. ד"ה עץ חיים תרצ"ט).
(ד) אין להסתפק במספר התלמידים בישיבות, כל זמן שישנם ילדים הראויים לישיבה ואין מבקרים אותם מסיבות חולשת הכרת אבותיהם בנחיצות הדבר. ולכן החובה לסדר בכל מקום תעמולה מסודרת, עשוי' במרץ ובהתלהבות הדרושה, כדי להגדיל מספר התלמידים בישיבות, ואין די מלים לתאר את גודל הזכות להציל אפילו נפש אחת בישראל בגשמיות ועל אחת כמה וכמה ברוחניות (ב"מ ל, א).
אתענין לדעת מהפעולות הטובות הנעשות בהתאם להנ"ל, וכן אם מסודר אצלם מחנה קיץ (דעי-קעמפ). והנני מקוה לקבל בשורות טובות בזה.
ולקראת ימי הגאולה יב-יג תמוז הבע"ל, גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, וגאולת כל "העוסקים בהרבצת תורה - כלשון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, יהי רצון שתתמלא ברכתו במילואה - כי יפתח ה' את אוצרו הטוב וישפיע לכל חובבי תורה לומדי' ומגידי שעורים ברבים, בתוך כלל אחב"י יחיו, שפעת חיים וברכה מרובה עד בלי די".

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter with your request and question regarding the change of schedule in several yeshivas during the summer months, I wish to draw your attention to the following points:
(a) Even during days when students are present in yeshiva and diligently learning, it is the educators’ duty not to lose focus on their students even when they are outside the yeshiva walls. They must strive with all their might that the students’ conduct and way of life should always be as it ought to be. All the more so during summer vacation days when extra attention is required—to know where each student is and what he is doing, and to assist them in every possible way to walk on the right path. As our Sages say: even when not seen by the students—the educator supervises and watches over them (Bava Basra 8b and commentaries).
(b) There is no limit to growth; therefore, even the most expert teachers should use vacation days to further increase their knowledge in matters relevant to their work—which is the work of Hashem (Bava Basra 21b).
(c) It is worthwhile to encourage the lay leaders involved in yeshivas that while they are relaxing in pleasant surroundings, they should use every opportunity when meeting new faces to bring them closer as supporters of the yeshivas. They should explain that "It is a tree of life for those who grasp it, and its supporters are praiseworthy." Do not read "praised" but "from its source," meaning they draw from the very source of all blessings (Zohar III 53b on Etz Chaim 5699).
(d) One should not be satisfied with the current number of students in yeshivas as long as there are children suitable for yeshiva who do not attend due to their parents’ lack of awareness about its importance. Therefore, there is an obligation everywhere to organize systematic publicity with necessary energy and enthusiasm to increase student enrollment in yeshivas. Words cannot describe the great merit of saving even one Jewish soul physically—and how much more so spiritually (Bava Metzia 30a).
I am interested in hearing about positive activities being done according to these points, as well as whether you have arranged a summer camp (day camp). I hope to receive good news about this.
As we approach the days of redemption—12-13 Tammuz—the redemption of my revered father-in-law, may his merit protect us all, and the redemption of all those involved in spreading Torah—as he expressed it—may it be G‑d’s will that his blessing be fulfilled completely: that Hashem open His good treasure and bestow upon all lovers of Torah—those who study it and those who teach public classes—among all our people Israel abundant life and overflowing blessings without limit.
