In response to your letter from Wednesday of Parshas Beha'aloscha regarding your efforts in the matter of Hachnasas Kallah on behalf of the Rav ... shiyichyeh, enclosed is my participation in the expenses connected to Hachnasas Kallah. May it be G‑d's will that the connection take place at a good and auspicious time, and may they build a home in Israel upon the foundations of Torah and mitzvah. Please kindly convey my blessing to the mechutanim shiyichyu, with wishes of Mazal Tov.

A note regarding Hachnasas Kallah: I was asked about what is stated in the text of Birchos HaShachar: "These are the things... and Hachnasas Kallah... and Torah study is equal to them all," since we do interrupt Torah study for Hachnasas Kallah (see Shdei Chemed Asifas Dinim Choshen Mishpat 22 – and I found this question also in Shu"t Maharam Shik Orach Chaim section 2). However, this matter is well explained according to what Admor Hazaken writes in Hilchos Talmud Torah chapter 4 section 3: "If it is not possible [for others to do it]... he should interrupt his learning and perform the mitzvah... he is obligated to interrupt his learning in order to fulfill them... if he does not do so, it turns out that he learned not to do [the mitzvah] etc." That is, if one does not interrupt for these mitzvos, he diminishes his Torah study; one must interrupt so that his Torah study will be elevated. According to this, the statement that Torah study is equal to them all does not refer to this aspect.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that supporting Hachnasas Kallah justifies pausing one's Torah study because fulfilling such mitzvos elevates one's learning rather than detracts from it. He sends blessings for a successful marriage built on Torah foundations.
