דערביי וויל איך אויך אונטערשטרייכן, וואס דער אלטער רבי שרייבט אין אגרת הקדש, סימן כ"א, אז ווי גרויס א ענין פון א מצוה איז, האט די זריזות מיט וועלכע מען טוט די מצוה גאר א גרויסע באדייטונג. ובפרט, שרייבט דער אלטער רבי דאס וועגן דעם ענין פון צדקה, און דאס זיינען זיינע ווערטער: זריזותו של אברהם אבינו ע"ה היא העומדת לעד לנו ולבנינו עד עולם כו' און איז מוסיף, אז בפרט אין "מעשה הצדקה עולה על כלנה כו' כש"כ שטוב לנו גם בעולם הזה להקדימה כל מה דאפשר".
איך וויל פארענדיקן מיטן וואונש, אז עס זאל מקויים ווערן וואס די גמרא זאגט, עשר תעשר, עשר בשביל שתתעשר, און גדול המעשה יותר מן העושה, אז גרעסער איז דער זכות פון דעם וואס איז זיך משתדל אז די צדקה זאל אריינקומען אין קאסע ווי פון דעם וואס גיט די צדקה. אייער באטייליקונג אין דער ארבעט וואס כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע האט מייסד געווען אין אפריקע זאל זיין א צנור ממשיך צו זיין בטוב הנראה והנגלה בבריאות הנכונה אייך ולזוג' וכב"ב שיחיו און א סך הצלחה אין אייערע געשעפטן, סיי גשמיותדיקע סייר רוחניותדיקע, און אזוי ווי מעלין בקדש, זאלט איר אויך [ז]וכה זיין צו פארגרעסערן אייער באטייליקונג אין דעם שווער'ס דעם רבינ'ס ארבעט, עס זאל זיין הלוך וגדול למעלה מעלה.

Following our telephone conversation, I am enclosing here a copy of my letter to Mr. Yosef Robinson, as well as the 20 checks in the names of Mr. Simon and Mr. Kaplan, which are made out one after another, dated starting two days after Robinson's check. Beginning with the sixth check, this is according to your instruction that charity comes first.
I also want to emphasize what the Alter Rebbe writes in Iggeres HaKodesh, section 21: As great as a mitzvah is, the promptness with which one performs it is of great significance. In particular, the Alter Rebbe writes this regarding charity and these are his words: 'The zeal of Avraham Avinu a"h is what stands for us and our children forever,' etc., and he adds that especially in 'the act of charity surpasses them all,' etc., 'all the more so it is good for us even in this world to do it as early as possible.'
I wish to conclude with the hope that what the Gemara says will be fulfilled: 'Aser te'aser (You shall surely tithe), tithe so that you will become wealthy,' and 'Greater is he who causes others to give than he who gives himself.' The merit is greater for one who strives to bring charity into the fund than for one who gives charity himself.
Your participation in the work founded by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal in Africa should serve as a channel to draw down visible and revealed good for you and your wife and all your family for proper health and much success in your business—both materially and spiritually—and just as we ascend in holiness, may you also merit to increase your involvement in your father-in-law's and the Rebbe's work so that it grows ever higher.

Summary
