המצווה הקמ"א
הציווי שנצטווינו להשמיט כל המשאות בשנת השמטה.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "ואשר יהיה לך את אחיך תשמט ידך" (דברים טו, ג).
וכבר נכפל הציווי במצווה זו ואמר: "וזה דבר השמטה שמוט כל בעל משה ידו" (דברים טו, ב).
ולשון התוספתא: "בשתי שמטות הכתוב מדבר, אחת שמטת קרקע ואחת שמטת כספים".
ושמטת כספים זו אינה נוהגת מן התורה אלא בזמן ששמטת קרקע נוהגת, ואז היא נוהגת מן התורה בכל מקום.

The 141st Mitzvah
1. The commandment in which we were commanded to release all debts in the Shemitah year.
2. This is as He, may He be exalted, said: "But that which you have with your brother, your hand shall release" (Devarim 15:3).
3. And this commandment is repeated, as it says: "And this is the matter of the release: every creditor shall release what he lent" (Devarim 15:2).
4. And the wording of the Tosefta: "The verse speaks of two types of release: one is the release of land, and one is the release of debts."
5. And this release of debts applies by Torah law only when the release of land applies, and then it applies by Torah law in every place.
